My BIG “Palm to Face” moment

The title of this post opens up quite a few questions…

But I will keep it simple. I created this blog BECAUSE of my big palm to face moment…which actually happened this morning.

For several years, I have been creating a few online businesses and blogs. But I have a problem each time I create one: I never know what the blog or business should focus on. You wouldn’t think that that would be a difficult question, but for a guy like me it is.

You see, I have way too many interests and not enough time to devote to focus on one or two of them. I can go into more detail on my various interests at a later time.

So because of those difficulties in choosing a topic, I end up not being successful. I either run out of ideas for content, get burned out, or just lose interest because of something else I want to do.

I have a current online business called Foilwall, which is a tech consulting and website management company. Over the past few weeks, I have been creating several posts and ads to help push the site and get a few customers. How many customers have I had so far? None.

As you can imagine, that is quite discouraging when you are trying to create services to help people and help with some extra income. But honestly, I want more than just “extra income”, I wanted to prove to myself and the world that I could be a successful businessman. To be fair though, I am sure a main reason for my lack of success is that I am not good at marketing. But regardless, even when I am sharing my services with people I know, I still have fallen flat.

Anyways, I was listening to a podcast, Smart Passive Income by Pat Flynn. I can’t remember the exact episode at the moment, but it was an episode about the psychology of an entrepreneur. The guest speaker was explaining the different negative feelings that entrepreneurs have and why those feelings cause one to not succeed. But he said (in a very summarized form), you have to embrace yourself, embrace who you are.

So the light went on for me…I had an epiphany. Instead of being discouraged from my failures as a blogger, businessman, investor, etc….embrace them. Learn from them. Teach others from those experiences. But instead of being a cold, distant businessman…I am just going to be myself. Turn my disappointments and mistakes into positive things. Using my personality, humor, and knowledge to teach and entertain.

So I hope you will enjoy this blog, maybe chuckle a few times from my antics, and hopefully learn how to better improve your own life.
